The 7MM INT RIM, also known as the 7mm International Rimmed, is a specialized rifle cartridge designed primarily for metallic silhouette shooting. It is a wildcat cartridge, which means it is not mass-produced but rather custom-made by enthusiasts and gunsmiths. The cartridge is based on the .300 Savage case but is necked down to accept a 7mm (0.284 inch) bullet.
The primary use case for the 7MM INT RIM is in competitions where shooters aim at steel targets of varying distances and sizes, which demands high accuracy and sufficient power to knock down the targets. The rimmed design makes it particularly suitable for single-shot and break-action rifles, where reliable extraction is critical.
This cartridge offers excellent ballistic performance and can handle a wide range of bullet weights, making it versatile for different shooting scenarios within its niche. However, due to its wildcat status, ammunition and load data may be less readily available than for more standardized cartridges.
