Due to this large diameter case and space limitations in the standard 7/8x14 dies, the carbide insert is extremely thin. To prevent cracking the carbide insert--if the cases have been fired in your gun--adjust the die a couple turns above the shell holder to prevent sizing the web portion of the case.

Lee 500 S&W Case Length Gauge is a precise, easy way to trim to length and square the case mouth. Use with the Large Cutter and Lock Stud.
Trim to length 1.615 to 1.625 inches.

500 S&W Collet Style Crimp Die. Incorporates a collet to apply a rifle type crimp to the case. Makes these very difficult to crimp cartridges a delight to reload. Bullets do not need a crimp groove, as the collet is so powerful it will form one. NOTE: This die is not carbide.
