The cartridge is based on the .450 Bushmaster case, necked down to accept a .30-caliber bullet. With a case length of 1.525 inches, it is shorter than the .308 Winchester, but the 30 Remington AR still offers effective ballistics for medium game hunting, such as deer and hogs, due to its ability to propel bullets between 110 and 150 grains at velocities around 2,500 to 2,800 feet per second.
