The 11.15x60mm Mauser, also known as the 11mm Mauser or .43 Mauser, is a black powder cartridge that was developed in the late 19th century. It was designed by the Mauser brothers and adopted by the German Empire for use in the Mauser Model 1871 rifle, their first successful military bolt-action rifle.
The cartridge features a rimmed, bottleneck case and typically fires a lead bullet weighing approximately 370 grains. The muzzle velocity of the cartridge is about 1,400 to 1,450 feet per second, which was quite powerful for its time.
This cartridge saw use primarily in military engagements during the late 1800s but has since become obsolete. Today, it is mainly of interest to collectors and historical firearms enthusiasts. It can also be used in vintage shooting competitions that focus on black powder cartridge rifles. Reloading is necessary for modern use, as factory ammunition is no longer produced in significant quantities.
